Our Origin & Purpose
The journey of Kumudini Energy Pvt. Ltd. is rooted in sustainable rural development. Inspired by Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pachauri of TERI, the enterprise gained foundational support in 2021 from Dr. Harish Hande, co-founder of SELCO India. By 2023, Kumudini graduated from the SELCO Foundation and was incubated at BIOTECH, IIT Kharagpur. In 2024, Social Alpha partnered to accelerate our agro-technology ecosystem.
At our core, Kumudini Energy bridges severe economic and technological gaps in rural India. We act as a vital system integrator, connecting clean-energy innovators, financial institutions, and markets directly to smallholder farmers. By organizing fragmented farmers into Community-Based Business Organizations (CBBOs), we empower them to access affordable credit, deploy climate-smart agriculture, and utilize decentralized renewable energy. Ultimately, our purpose is to transform isolated farming practices into structured, collective enterprises that build climate resilience and elevate entire rural communities.

Biswoprakash Bhattacharya serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Kumudini Energy Pvt. Ltd., leading the organization's strategic vision, institutional partnerships, and last-mile execution across Odisha. With extensive experience in clean technology deployment, sustainable agriculture, and micro-finance integration, he has pioneered decentralized energy systems that directly empower smallholder farmers, self-help groups, and women entrepreneurs. Under his leadership, Kumudini Energy bridges top-tier agritech innovations with grassroots agrarian communities, driving economic self-reliance, food security, and carbon reduction across rural India.
